AC Source Across Series R Circuit

 

Let applied voltage in the circuit is v(t)=VmSin(wt). Then current i(t) will flow in the circuit as shown in figure. 
R is the resistance of the circuit. 
Assume vR(t) is the voltage drop across resistor.
According to Ohm's law,
vR(t)=R*i(t)
                                              i(t)=v(t)/R                    (since vR(t)=v(t))
